A meteorite exploded over the Atlantic Ocean with the same power as the Hiroshima atomic bomb

The explosion took place at an altitude of 31 km in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Brazil.

The meteor appeared to release energy equivalent to about 12,000 tonnes of TNT, which is about 12 kilotons of explosive power.

The Hiroshima bomb exploded with an energy of about 15 kilotons.

This force destroyed the city of Hiroshima and killed at least 80,000 people instantly

Thousands of people later died from exposure to radiation.

The Chelyabinsk meteorite explosion released 450 kilotons of explosive energy, 26 to 33 times more than the Hiroshima bomb.

More than 1,600 people were injured in the blast, most of them in Thanasa due to broken glass.

The explosion caused a shock wave that blew out windows and damaged some buildings over 200 square miles.

It was a scary event, but being over the Atlantic Ocean, don't worry too much about it.
